Novosibirsk region

The Novosibirsk region is a part of Siberian federal district. Regional administrative center is the city of Novosibirsk.

The region is the 16th most populous in Russia. Novosibirsk borders on the Tomsk region in the north, on the Altai kray - in the south, on the Omsk region - in the West, on the Kemerovo region - in the east. The region is also contiguous with Kazakhstan in the southwest.

The woods occupy 11% of the whole regional territory.

Health resort treatment and rest are fast developing in the region thanks to finding out of fields of thermal iodine-bromine waters here, and also existence of therapeutic muds. The most known sanatoria are: Dovolensky, Krasnozersky, "Baraba", "Karachi", "Berdsk".

Novosibirsk region dominates more than 50 in the sphere of science and technologies.

Many architectural monuments of pre-revolutionary construction are located in the administrative center, i.e. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (the first stone-built construction in Novosibirsk), Novosibirsk regional museum of local lore, etc.
